The Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (IMSAS) at the University of Kent, Canterbury, is pleased to announce the launch of a PhD programme in Actuarial Science from the academic year 2008-09.
The PhD in Actuarial Science offers the opportunity to begin or consolidate your research career under the guidance of internationally renowned researchers and professionals in IMSAS. The department has a strong reputation for research and a well-established system of support and training with a high level of contact between staff and research students.
The initial focus of the programme is in the area of economic capital and risk management for financial services firms, developing stochastic modelling techniques in a very topical area ( further details [1]). Applications for PhD research in these areas will be particularly welcomed. Other research topics in the department include genetics and insurance, accident compensation and risk classification.
